Sawyer, MI - Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport will make improvements with a 3-million-dollar state allocation in the new Michigan budget. Airport manager David Erhart (AIR’-hart) says the facility worked with the Lake Superior Community Partnership on the request, which was sponsored by Representative Karl Bohnak. Erhart says an airport board of advisors worked with the Marquette County Board to decide how the money would be used.
Erhart says he expects to see a drop in passenger numbers since United delayed service to Chicago until November-5th and Delta suspended service to Minneapolis after Labor Day until the spring of next year. He notes if fuel prices drop, it’s possible Delta could shorten that suspension.
