Matching grant to combat child abuse, help survivors, given to Marquette center

MARQUETTE, MI— The Northern Lights Child Advocacy Center has been given $20,000 to support Marquette County child abuse survivors.

The grant comes from the M.E. Davenport Foundation. $10,000 was awarded for essential program-related supplies. The other $10,000 was provided as a matching grant to support services at the center, including forensic interviews, victim advocacy, coordination of a multidisciplinary team to respond to child abuse, and community education.

The grant will match all donations received by September 15th—up to $10,000. Officials say the funding will enable the center to expand its services for children who have experienced physical and sexual abuse, neglect, human trafficking, and other trauma.
