Dispose of unused meds this weekend

MARQUETTE, MI— The DEA’s bi-annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday.

Law Enforcement Agencies and medical facilities around the country will take old, unwanted, and expired medications and dispose of them safely. Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs will be accepted.

Officials say removing the medications from households will prevent them from becoming a gateway to addiction.

To find a disposal site near you, go to www.DEATakeBack.com.

Take Back Day has removed nearly 9,000 tons of medication from circulation since its inception ten years ago.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
