Ishpeming Community Garden site sold to Partridge Creek Farm

ISHPEMING, MI— Partridge Creek Farm is now the owner of the Community Garden site in Ishpeming.

PCF launched a fundraising campaign on this past Giving Tuesday. It raised $10,850 toward purchasing the land for its 24 Community Garden members.

Now that the purchase is complete, PCF staff will use the remaining funds to enhance the garden with accessibility-friendly beds, perennial plants, new tools, and essential repairs and upgrades.

PCF officials say access to fresh, healthy food remains a challenge for many Ishpeming residents. A 2021 survey revealed that 58 percent of area residents shop in neighboring towns for groceries, leading to significant economic leakage and classifying Ishpeming as a food desert.
