Houghton County VetFest to connect veterans with dental services

HOUGHTON, MI— Veterans will be able to access needed dental services during the 2025 Houghton County VetFest on Wednesday.

The event will feature the Michigan Center for Rural Health, My Community Dental Centers, Smiles on Wheels, and the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center. It was established to bring dental care services directly to veterans in rural areas such as the U.P. using mobile units staffed by trained dental care professionals.

The units will provide hygiene services for veterans and referrals for follow-up treatment.

VetFest takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MTU Student Development Complex in Houghton.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
