Vigils to be held this month for those affected by domestic violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

ESCANABA, MI— Tri County Safe Harbor is holding candlelight vigils in three counties in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

TCSH serves survivors of intimate partner domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Group facilitator and advocate Tara Clark says the vigils will honor those who lived through domestic violence and those who didn’t.

“It’s to honor survivors who have endured the effects of abuse at the hands of their partners, and to kind of remember those who have gone before us who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.”

The vigils will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. near the Beach House in Escanaba, October 12 on the boardwalk across from Dollar General in Manistique, and October 22 at 5:30 p.m. Central on the lawn of First United Methodist Church in Menominee.
