IRON MOUNTAIN, MI-- An Upper Peninsula medical center has been named one of the top performers in the country.
The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain is in the top 18 percent of hospitals that are top performers on key quality measures. The benchmarks are set by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. The center is also one of only 244 hospitals to receive the recognition for a second year in a row.
Top performing hospitals had to meet two 95-percent performance thresholds. They had to meet or exceed 95 percent on a score that includes all accountability measures reported to The Joint Commission, and had to meet or exceed a 95-percent performance target for each measure reported. The Iron Mountain center achieved both for pneumonia.
