MARQUETTE, MI-- A Marquette woman has been chosen by the Marquette County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition as its “MC2 Preventionist of the Year.”
Carroll Ann Swanson worked for 20 years as a Marquette General Hospital inpatient and outpatient adolescent addiction counselor and educator. She created an aftercare program for teens from the Youth Inpatient Treatment Program and formed the Family Intervention Program for adolescent outpatient services until her retirement in 2008.
Swanson also functioned as lead facilitator for the Partners in Prevention Program, which teaches substance abuse prevention education and leadership skills for high school students across the U.P. She is now a private contractor for middle school Prime for Life Prevention services.
Swanson was honored Tuesday during a ceremony at the Marquette-Alger RESA building.
