MGH's Muller retiring

MARQUETTE, MI--   The president of Marquette General Hospital is stepping down from the top post.

Officials announced Monday that Gary Muller is retiring, effective December 31 of this year.  He’ll continue as president and CEO of Superior Health Partners—a coalition of nine Upper Peninsula hospitals—until February 28 of 2014.  At that point Muller will fully retire.

The 64-year-old Muller came to Marquette General in November of 2007.  He had previously served for nine years as president and CEO of West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana.

Health System owner Duke LifePoint and the MGH Board of Trustees will begin the process of finding the best candidate to fill Muller’s shoes.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
