New Bell Hospital CEO chosen

LifePoint Hospitals

ISHPEMING, MI--   Bell Hospital in Ishpeming has named a new Chief Executive Officer.

Officials announced Tuesday that interim CEO Mitch Leckelt has accepted the top post.  The 52-year-old has been at Bell since July, after serving at Marquette General Hospital as Assistant Administrator.

LifePoint Hospitals U.P. Market President James Bogan says several candidates were interviewed, but Leckelt’s management expertise and knowledge of health care dynamics in the Upper Peninsula persuaded officials he was the best person for the job.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
