MARQUETTE, MI-- The Marquette community is banding together this week to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
On Thursday business and community leaders have volunteered to be “locked up” at the 906 Sports Bar & Grill for an hour. They’ll try to raise “bail” by calling friends, family, and colleagues for donations.
The Marquette Fire Department is also hosting a special event Thursday morning at 11:30 at Fire Station 2 to kick off its Fill the Boot fundraising campaign.
Friday and Saturday more than 30 firefighters—boots in hand—will be stationed at intersections across the city to collect money from passing drivers. They’ll also be at the entrance of Econo Foods to greet shoppers.
All funds raised will be used for research and life-enhancing programs.
