Health & Happiness marks anniversary with wellness forum

MARQUETTE, MI--   Health & Happiness U.P. Magazine is celebrating its 10th anniversary by letting residents know about other wellness options in the area.

The magazine is sponsoring a forum on Myth-Busting and Self-Help Tips in Marquette Saturday.

Publisher Roslyn McGrath says sometimes people believe certain things because they don’t know all the facts, and that keeps them from getting great support in their health. She says the forum will feature nine presenters who will focus on topics like nutrition, nurturing yourself through nature, how to be well as you age, and help on navigating the Medicare maze.

McGrath says attendees will learn several different ways to improve their well-being.

“I feel pretty darned confident that they’re going to come away with a lot of practical, helpful tips on things that they can do themselves to improve their health and wellness, as well as getting more familiar with some of the great resources in our community that can help them go even further with their health and wellness,” she says.

McGrath notes when it first started out, Health & Happiness U.P. Magazine delivered 1,500 copies to two counties, and it now sends 10,000 copies to eight counties in the Upper Peninsula.

The free forum takes place Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Peter White Public Library.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
