Firefighters urging residents to Fill the Boot for MDA

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette firefighters are once again taking to the streets to help out the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

On July 27 and 28 eight firefighters will stand at four intersections and collect money for the MDA in boots. They’ll be at Cleveland and McClellan, Third and Hewitt, Pine and Fair, and Front and Washington. Some will also roam the Blueberry Fest downtown.

Money collected will be used for research, support groups, care centers, and to send 50 kids to MDA summer camp. Last year more than 100,000 firefighters raised $24 million dollars in Fill the Boot events across the country.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
