Stuff a Blue Goose to help Keweenaw food pantries

MARQUETTE, MI--   Residents in the Keweenaw can help combat hunger by stuffing a Blue Goose this week.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post will be at grocery stores in Houghton and Baraga counties so shoppers can fill a “Blue Goose” patrol car. All stores will have pre-made grab bags available for purchase. Each will be filled with non-perishable food items.

Every bag stuffed into the car will be donated to a local food pantry.

The events will be held as follows:

  • Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm at Econo Foods in Houghton
  • Friday from 10 am to 1 pm at Louie’s Super Foods in Lake Linden
  • Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm at Pat’s Foods in Calumet
  • Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse

Officials say local pantries have a significant need for food, and involvement from the public is greatly appreciated.
