Norlite employee diagnosed with coronavirus

MARQUETTE, MI--   An employee of Marquette’s Norlite Nursing Center has tested positive for COVID-19.

WLUC-TV says a release was sent to employees and residents’ families indicating the employee last worked at Norlite on March 25. When the employee arrived for her 2 a.m. shift enhanced screening protocols showed she had a 100-degree temperature. Officials say she had coughing and a sore throat for a couple of days but now feels fine.

All COVID-19 tests at the facility have been negative. About ten tests are pending.

Visitors are not allowed at Norlite. Families are encouraged to talk to their loved ones via texting, phone calls or video chats.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
