Iron County sees first coronavirus case

IRON COUNTY, MI--   Officials are reporting the first presumptive positive case of COVID-19 in Iron County.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department says a man has been quarantined according to current guidelines. Those identified as a close contact to the man are being notified. The health department says the case appears to be of low risk to the community.

COVID-19 symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
