Money awarded to UP agency for lead control

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency has been awarded money to expand residential lead hazard control services.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services grant is available for eligible households with a Medicaid-enrolled resident.

The agency was awarded $500,000 for such services as lead inspection, permanent removal of lead-based paint and removal or covering of soil lead hazards.

The grant targets homes in Menominee, Delta, Schoolcraft, Iron, Dickinson and Alger counties.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
