Finlandia winning so far in Fight the Flu competition

Northern Michigan University

MARQUETTE, MI--   Finlandia University is at the head of the pack in the four-school “Fight the Flu” competition.

Sponsored by the Center for Rural Health at Northern Michigan University, Fight the Flu also involves Lake Superior State University, Michigan Tech and NMU. The school with the highest percentage of it population vaccinated against the flu will win the contest.

Finlandia is leading with 10.4 percent of its students, faculty, and staff anonymously reporting they got their flu shot. Northern is in second place with 7.2 percent. LSSU is in third place at 5.1 percent. And Tech is fourth with 4.7 percent vaccinated.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
