New COO starts at UPHS-Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI— UPHS-Marquette has appointed Tonya Darner as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Darner previously managed the development and operations of several specialties at the hospital. She returns to Marquette from Wausau, Wisconsin, where she served as the Chief Operating Officer for Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the past four years.

Darner served with the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. She managed medical care units and eventually became the 4th Medical Operations Squadron Superintendent in 2007.

After retiring from the military, Darner moved to Marquette and oversaw several medical practices before being hired at UPHS-Marquette.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
