Parent Support Network to help UP parents with their kids' mental health

GLRC

ISHPEMING, MI— Great Lakes Recovery Centers is partnering with the Youth Mental Health Project to offer parents an opportunity to talk about their kids’ needs.

The collaboration is bringing The Parent Support Network to U.P. parents and caregivers who are helping children, teens and young adults struggling with their mental health.

Parents will meet online to support and empower each other so they can help their children maintain their mental health or guide them through a crisis. The network will create a confidential, “judgment-free zone” for parents to express their own emotions with others who understand their experiences and to share knowledge and resources to help each other.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
