MARINETTE, WI— Nurses and healthcare professionals from Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area are holding a rally in Marinette Thursday evening.

The groups have been negotiating together as a union with hospital executives since the end of June. Workers say Aurora is refusing to provide contractually guaranteed wages, safe staffing levels, or common-sense safety protections.

The Michigan Nurses Association, which represents employees at the hospital, says they have been working under an expired contract since September 30th.

The rally will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 499 Bridge Street in Marinette, near the “Welcome to Wisconsin” sign.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
