UPHS-Marquette achieves certification for stroke treatment

MARQUETTE, MI— UPHS-Marquette has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Primary Stroke Center Certification.

On October 11th, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with certification standards, including timeliness of stroke treatment, compliance with established stroke care guidelines, and stroke center organization and protocols.

Certification means the hospital has demonstrated a commitment to providing the highest quality care when evaluated against standards of performance for stroke.

Officials say adhering to national standards and guidelines can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.
