Visitor restrictions in effect at UP Health System hospitals

MARQUETTE, MI— UP Health System is implementing visitor restrictions at all its hospitals, as of Monday, 1/22/24.

Officials say the move is due to the rising number of respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, the flu, and RSV, and the increased rate of transmission in the community.

Restrictions will be in effect for all inpatient units. Visitors who are ill with cough, fever, or other symptoms will not be permitted, nor will children under 14. Visitors to Family Birthing Centers will be limited to parents, labor coaches, and grandparents. And visitors to the UPHS-Marquette Neonatal ICU are limited to parents only.

The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
