Level IV designation given to Dickinson County hospital

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson has received a Level IV (4) Trauma Center designation from the state of Michigan.

Elements of the higher level of care available include emergency department facilities containing Advanced Trauma Life Support; trauma physicians, Advanced Practice Clinicians, and nurses available upon patient arrival; surgical and critical care services; and transfer agreements for patients requiring more comprehensive care at a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.

The Marshfield-Dickinson trauma team spent months applying and implementing protocols and preparing for the state survey to achieve the designation.
