UNDATED— Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System have signed an affiliation agreement to combine operations.
Sanford is the largest rural health system in the U.S. Marshfield is a physician-led health system serving rural Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. The organizations announced in July they had signed a letter of intent to combine.
The new system is expected to create new care delivery models, serve more than 425,000 members, and expand research capabilities.
The combination is expected to close by the end of the year, subject to regulatory processes and closing conditions. Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System remain two separate, independent organizations until the closing.
