SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians has announced a donation to help continue the RxKids program. The $200,000 donation will help ensure families in the region have greater access to resources during pregnancy and early childhood.

RxKids provides cash payments to pregnant women and families with newborns, helping them cover essential costs such as baby supplies, food, housing, utilities, and other necessities during the earliest months of a child’s life.

In the first six months of the program’s availability in the eastern U-P counties of Luce, Mackinac, Alger, Schoolcraft, and Chippewa, it has served 323 families, 25% of which are Native American.

For more information on the program, visit www.rxkids.org.
