Boil water advisory issued for parts of Negaunee

Nicole Walton

NEGAUNEE, MI— A portion of Negaunee is under a boil water advisory until further notice.

The Department of Public Works says a contractor was performing a water service connection Tuesday when a leak occurred in a water main and reduced pressure. Repairs are currently being made.

The advisory affects West Water Street, Cambria and Tilot Roads, Shoreline Drive, and US-41 west of Teal Lake Avenue.

Residents are being asked to boil all water that’s for human consumption. That includes drinking and cooking water.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
