IRONWOOD, MI— Nurses with Aspirus Ironwood Hospital will vote next week on whether their bargaining team should be authorized to call for a strike, if necessary.
The action comes after RNs say the administration refused to move on key issues during bargaining Wednesday.
The local Michigan Nurses Association union says Aspirus’ contract proposal eliminates the wage structure that rewards nurses’ experience, provides lower wages than the MNA proposal for nearly half the nurses, and fails to meaningfully address the impending closure of the OB unit and the nurses’ proposal regarding it.
No further bargaining dates are set at this time.
The vote to authorize a strike will be held on Wednesday, November 5.
