HOUGHTON/HANCOCK, MI— Patients shouldn’t experience any change in service when a new owner takes over UPHS-Portage’s three pharmacies this year.
Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center will gain ownership of Portage Apothecary’s two retail locations and the pharmacy at the Portage Pointe Nursing Home. A UPHS press release indicates UGLFHC plans to hire all current employees, pending employment screenings.
UPHS-Portage CEO Ryan Heinonen says the transition will allow the hospital to maintain access to pharmacy services locally while continuing to focus on core healthcare services.
Both organizations say they are working to ensure a seamless transition for patients, employees, and the community.
