TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI— A boil water advisory is in effect for Tilden Township residents as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Repairs at the township’s booster station may have caused a drop in pressure at the Tilden Township water supply, which could result in bacterial contamination. Officials have issued the boil water advisory as a precaution, and will also add chlorine to the system as another precaution.
They say boil all water for a minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.
The township is flushing and collecting samples from around the water system to test for bacteria. They say it takes 48 to 56 hours from when the first round of samples is collected until the last. The boil water notice will remain in effect until results show the water is safe to drink.
The township will notify residents when the boil water advisory is lifted.
