Gun salute to mark Canada Day in Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO— Michigan State Police are warning people in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Ontario that it will get loud Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., the Canadian Armed Forces 49th Field Artillery Regiment will conduct a three-round blank artillery gun salute to commemorate Canada Day. It will take place on Topsail Island in the St. Mary’s River.

Officials say the salute will be quite loud. Residents and visitors nearby who are sensitive to loud sounds are encouraged to plan outdoor activities accordingly.
