Grants for Western UP food pantries available from Portage Health Foundation

HANCOCK, MI— The Portage Health Foundation is offering grants for food pantries and emergency food assistance programs in Baraga, Houghton, Ontonagon and Keweenaw counties.

A total of $20,000 is available in $2,000 increments per grant.

Foundation officials say local pantries and assistance programs are challenged because an increasing number of people have been using them. Grant funding can be used to purchase food, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies and other necessary daily living supplies.

The deadline to apply is November 22nd. Awards will be announced on December 3rd.
