Volunteers needed for kids' camp that addresses grief

MARQUETTE, MI— STAR Children’s Bereavement Services of the U.P. is looking for volunteers to participate in this year’s Camp Star.

It’s a free camp for kids ages 8 to 17 who have experienced the death of a parent, friend or loved one. The 4-day event is filled with traditional, fun camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support.

It takes place August 11-14 at Bay Cliff Health Camp. Volunteer positions include Buddies, Leaders and Activities Helpers.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
