COVID-related rental assistance funds running out

LANSING, MI— Rental assistance from the state will soon be running out.

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority says it will soon have enough applications through the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance program to encumber available funds. Applications for CERA through its online portal will stop being accepted as of Thursday, June 30, at 9 p.m.

Residents whose rent is in arrears should apply immediately for potential consideration at www.ceraapp.michigan.gov.

Officials say it’s likely more applications will be received than funds available. Applications submitted before the deadline will continue to be processed until all available money is used.
