Purses with a Purpose to benefit domestic and sexual assault survivors

MARQUETTE, MI— Michigan State Police posts in Marquette and Alger counties are collecting Purses with a Purpose this month.

New and gently used purses filled with comfort items are sought for survivors of domestic and sexual assault. Suggested items include toiletries, socks, feminine products, brushes, and Marq-Tran ticket books.

Donations will be accepted throughout April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. They can be taken to the State Police Posts or dropped off at the Marquette Women’s Center.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
