'Tow to Go' launched by AAA for holiday weekend

UNDATED— AAA will come to the rescue of people who can’t drive because they’ve had too much to drink this weekend.

During the “Tow to Go” campaign, the auto club will dispatch a tow truck to transport the impaired person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius for free.

The service is available to AAA members and non-members, but rides cannot be scheduled in advance. It’s designed as a safety net for those who did not plan ahead or whose rides fell through.

The service will be available from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Monday by calling 855-2-TOW-2-GO or 855-286-9246.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
