Calumet MSP asking residents to Stuff a Blue Goose

CALUMET, MI— Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are working with five grocery stores in Houghton and Baraga Counties this week to help those with food insecurity.

The “Stuff a Blue Goose” events are being held in conjunction with the Michigan Harvest Gathering Campaign. Each store will have pre-made food bags available for the public to purchase and stuff into a blue patrol car.

The events take place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tadych’s Marketplace in Houghton and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Larry’s Market in Baraga; Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Louie’s Super Foods in Lake Linden; and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse and Calumet.

Residents may also donate their own non-perishable food items.

Officials say there’s a significant need for food items at local pantries across the Upper Peninsula.
