Keweenaw Family Resource Center gets grant to prevent child abuse

HOUGHTON, MI— A Houghton organization is one of six across the state to receive funding from the Children Trust Michigan’s Board of Directors for child abuse prevention initiatives.

The Keweenaw Family Resource Center is getting a $320,000 Direct Services grant. It will go toward the 24/7 Dad, Parent Cafés, and playgroups for fathers, which use multiple approaches to engage dads.

The purpose of Direct Services grants is to fund community‐based child abuse prevention programs and services. The grants support families that experience challenges that could impact positive parenting and optimal child development.
