Help needed for Marquette and Alger county 'Point in Time Count'

MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette’s Room at the Inn is looking for volunteers to count people who are homeless in Marquette and Alger counties.

Every January, agencies across the country measure the scale of homelessness in a certain area over a 24-hour period. This year’s “Point in Time Count” takes place January 31st.

Volunteers will speak to those who don’t have permanent housing and collect information about them. That data will be used by the government to provide resources to those who qualify.

A training meeting will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Crib and Wednesday, January 31st at 10 p.m. at the Room at the Inn Warming Center.
