New executive director secured at Superior Health Foundation

Chris Amos

MARQUETTE, MI— The Superior Health Foundation has selected a new executive director.

Megan Murphy is an Ironwood native who most recently served as Director for Community Health and Capacity Building at the Michigan Health Endowment Fund. She joined the Fund as grants manager in 2016 and transitioned to a program officer for the Health Fund’s Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle program in 2018.

Prior to joining the Health Fund, she held several roles within the nonprofit sector in Grand Rapids, focused on health, philanthropy, program development and community engagement.

Murphy replaces Executive Director Jim LaJoie, who will retire in May.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
