MARQUETTE, MI— Letter carriers will be collecting food this weekend in an effort to combat food insecurity.
In the 30 years since it began, the Stamp Out Hunger effort has become the nation’s largest, single-day food drive.
On Saturday, residents can leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods—such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice, or cereal—next to their mailbox before regular mail delivery. Food should be in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans. Letter carriers will then collect donations and deliver them to local food pantries.
