Copper Shores gets land from UPHS-Portage

HANCOCK, MI— UPHS-Portage has donated land to the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation.

The property on Water Street in Hancock is the former site of Copper Shores’ Meals on Wheels kitchen. Officials say the building and surrounding grounds will be evaluated for continued use in support of the Meals on Wheels program. They say other programming opportunities might be added in the unoccupied space.

The building and some property across the street previously housed physician offices and most recently, community COVID-19 response efforts.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
