Marquette County schools get grants from West End Health Foundation

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— The West End Health Foundation has awarded grants to assist several school districts.

This week the Foundation presented checks totaling $100,000 as part of its 2024 School Grant Cycle. Each district was given $25,000.

Ishpeming Public Schools will use the funds for student mental health; the NICE Community School District for funding a full-time school nurse for the upcoming school year; Negaunee Public Schools will put the money toward a district health coordinator; and the Republic-Michigamme School District will use its grant for mental health rescue.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
