Marquette County groups receive $50,000 in grants

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— The West End Health Foundation awarded checks this week to this year’s Proactive Grant recipients.

Funding focused on organizations that provide programs and services with an emphasis on food insecurity in Marquette County’s West End community.

Partridge Creek Farms received $12,750 for Growing and Eating for Better Health in Ishpeming. Negaunee Public Schools received $11,840 for the Lakeview School Garden. And the Greater Ishpeming Commission on Aging was given $25,410 for its West End Senior Grocery Getters program.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
