Schoolcraft County families receive holiday food through MSP donation events

MANISTIQUE, MI— Several families in Schoolcraft County received food for the holiday season on Monday.

The Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost, in partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul Society Diocesan Council of Marquette at the Manistique Food Pantry, and Jack’s Fresh Market collected more than $4,000 worth of non-perishable food for 17 families in need.

The food was collected through Stuff a Blue Goose donation events in Manistique. Remaining items that weren’t delivered will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Michigan State Police thank Jack’s Fresh Market and its staff for their pivotal role in making the event possible, the support from the community, and the Sault Tribe Police Department and Manistique Public Safety Department for their assistance with deliveries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
