Free tax prep expanded through grant to United Way

MARQUETTE, MI— The United Way of Marquette County has received a grant to expand its free tax preparation services.

The money comes from the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan. It will allow IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers to assist elderly, low-income, and disabled residents with their taxes.

This year, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, the United Way will also offer assistance to those who generally make $67,000 or less per year and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need help.

Services will be provided at Peter White Public Library in Marquette and at 906 Community Church at Sawyer.

For more information, call 906-226-8171.
