MSP gathers Purses with a Purpose

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— The Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post is collecting purses for survivors of sexual assault.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Troopers will gather new or gently used purses or totes filled with comfort items to benefit Caring House in Iron Mountain.

Suggested items include toiletries, hand sanitizer, socks, blankets, and kids comfort items.

Donations will be accepted through April 30th. They can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iron Mountain Post, 1916 North Stephenson Avenue.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
