Laurium splash pad gets $45,000 from KHF

LAURIUM, MI— The Keweenaw Health Foundation has made a donation to Laurium’s “Get Active Initiative.”

The foundation gave $45,000 to the “Splashing through Laurium” splash pad project. Officials say it’s designed to be an accessible, fun, and safe space for children and families to engage in active play.

The splash pad will offer an alternative to beach visits, providing an opportunity for families who may face transportation or financial barriers to participate in water-based recreation.

The project also aims to contribute to the cognitive development and socialization of children by providing an environment where they can interact with others and learn the importance of community involvement through active play.
