Marquette Ending Hunger volunteers to knock on doors, collect food Friday and Sunday

MARQUETTE, MI— Volunteers with NMU-based group Marquette Ending Hunger will knock on area doors Friday to ask residents to set aside nonperishable food items. Food put in boxes or bags and set outside will be collected on Sunday.

Sydney Butler is President of Marquette Ending Hunger. She and Vice President Jonathan Steele spoke with Public Radio 90 News Director Nicole Walton about the group and the events.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
