MARQUETTE, MI— The United Way of Marquette County is holding an informational session for people who’d like to help out with the VITA program.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provides free tax preparation for qualifying households, older adults, and people with disabilities. IRS-certified volunteers prepare and electronically file returns while helping taxpayers identify credits for which they may qualify.
During the most recent tax season, United Way of Marquette County's VITA program served more than 250 households, filing 250 federal returns and 254 state returns.
The volunteer session will be held Thursday, September 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the Marquette MARESA office on Ohio Street.
